What is Teen2Teen?
HCHY is dedicated to building on the strengths of our most vital resource— our youth. Last school year our Teen Advisory Committee met with middle school students and concluded that there were 3 areas of needed development:
1. Awareness of their own values
2. Understanding/Respecting others
3. Making good decisions in difficult and challenging situations
The entire Summit is the creation of and will be facilitated by our Teen Leaders. Each of the Leaders provides an authentic and relatable voice for youth to hear.
This unique Summit will be interactive and directly challenge the youth to explore their own values and decision-making. At the end of the Summit, the youth will choose a challenge that will encourage him/her to be leaders in their lives and the leaders of others.

The Purpose of the Summit is for our Juniors and Seniors to teach and demonstrate leadership to middle school students; and for all of the participants to feel more empowered to be leaders in their own life and the community.
This is our 4th year running this program. Every year, the students who participate tell us they had a lot of fun and it was a great social experience. This program is brand new and the high school students have been working hard to put it together.
Taking Charge of Your Life
This Summit is about showing personal leadership by knowing who you are and taking charge of the messages you hear everyday. Whether the messages are positive or negative, only through self-awareness and courage can you truly be yourself.
Through fun and interactive activities, we will explore:
1. Being true to yourself
2. Recognize both positive and negative influences (particularly in the media)
3. Accepting help and support from others
Who should attend
We will run this program multiple times over the next 12 months, but for the first workshop the student must be in grades 6-7. The ideal student is any child who displays leadership qualities or might benefit from some encouragment and new social experience. The student must be able to function well within a group setting for at least 3-4 hours and not require signficant redirection.
