Olympic Outdoor Center

602 North Interstate 35,

San Marcos Texas 78666

8:30AM - 4:30PM

Come join BCO for a day (or weekend) of whitewater kayak instruction on the beautiful San Marcos river. Spring fed, the San Marcos is clear and 72 degrees year round. Our instructors are advanced kayakers and Olympian Ben Kvanli is our head instructor!

If possible, plan to arrive at the Olympic Outdoor Center Friday night for preliminary outfitting and rolling instruction. If you can't make it Friday night, please come early (7:45 am) Saturday to get outfitted.   We will be on the water first thing in the morning to get a full day of river fun!!

The San Marcos has several water features. On Saturday we run the lower San Marcos this allows us to learn and practice; ferrying, eddying out, strokes, river reading, rolling and much, much more. You can do as much or as little as you want, the instructors are here to help you get exactly what you want out of the class. Most kayakers who have taken the class go on to become serious whitewater kayak addicts! It is so much fun. This class is for beginners or intermediate kayakers alike. We paddle in whitewater boats with skirts and all gear is included in the cost of the class. All you need to bring is water, sunscreen, swimsuit or board shorts and a top. Please bring $3.00 cash for the launch park fee.

We are getting an awesome BCO rate of $95.00 per person, per day (instead of the normal $130.00). Price includes kayak rental, paddle, helmet, life vest, and shuttle. Bring lots of water, snacks, cash/cc for lunch and sunscreen.

Don’t forget: Wear a swimsuit or board shorts and a top.  You will probably want a t-shirt to protect you from the sun in the afternoon.  If you do not have a dry bag, just bring your river stuff and someone will help you carry it. We will send a check-list to you the week of the event via email to be sure you have everything you need for a perfect weekend!

(Please check the event listing on the BCO calendar on 9/27 called White Water Weekend – READ FIRST) This information page will give you additional details on the weekend, lodging, dinners and such)

Pay the Olympic Outdoor Center directly. They take cash, checks and credit cards. Additional info & RSVP http://www.BayouCityOutdoors.com or call 713-524-3567 or e-mail to Kelly@BayouCityOutdoors.com

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Typically most BCO events are for adults.  But, we do love kids.  If you believe your child is capable of keeping up with the group, no problem.  AND if this is a bike ride they MUST wear a helmet.  Questions?  Contact us at info@bayoucityoutdoors.com

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

We add parking details to the Event descriptions.

What can/can't I bring to the event?

If the temperature is above 80 or it very clearly says "No Dogs" then please don't bring your dog.  We LOVE dogs and only make this rule if we feel there could be a safety concern (for the dogs of course:).

BIKE: If it is a bike ride: Bring a helmet or borrow one from us.  Helmets are the single most important piece of gear you can have on a bike ride.  Anyway, any time you are wearing a helmet you must be having fun!

Bring water.  Frequently our events are in the woods or out of the way.  Water is important.

HIKE: If it is a hiking event wear comfortable shoes.  Athletic shoes, hiking boots, running shoes, just be sure your feet will be happy.

SOCIAL: If it is a social event?  Wear whatever YOU feel comfortable in.  We are an eclectic mix of people with all types of interests and jobs.  People will come straight from work in a suit or jeans, straight from running or working out, and some of us even come cleaned up straight from the shower!  (and everything in between)

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Printed ticket or download the EventBright app and bring it on your phone.

What is the refund policy?

Refunds up until 48 hours before.  Or, better yet, get some goodwill by sharing your ticket with a friend.  They will love you even more after all the fun they had at the BCO event!

The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?

Yes - see love & friendship above!
