Bayou City Outdoors Whitewater Kayaking 101 – Labor Day Weekend
Olympic Outdoor Center
602 North Interstate 35, San Marcos Texas 78666
8:30AM - 3:00PM
You can join us for the entire weekend or just one day. Sunday we typically ramp up our kayaking a notch (or two)! We will do a river trip is it has been raining. Otherwise, we head up to the falls at Rio Vista. It is good to have the Saturday class under your belt but if you can only join us for Sunday then please do!! We’ll get you up to speed right away. Let’s put those new kayaking skills to work and take it to the river!! This class is good for beginners or intermediate paddlers alike. The San Marcos is a clear, spring-fed river which is 72 degrees year-round – it’s fantastic!
We will meet at the Olympic Outdoor Center at 8:00 am. The cost for the day includes all equipment, shuttle, lunch & instruction. If you would like to opt for an additional rolling class to get your skills up, then there will be a chance to work on this at no additional charge.
We are getting an awesome BCO rate of $95.00 per person, per day (instead of the normal $130.00). Price includes kayak rental, paddle, helmet, life vest, and shuttle. Bring lots of water, snacks, cash/cc for lunch and sunscreen.
Don’t forget: Wear a swimsuit or board shorts and a top. You will probably want a t-shirt to protect you from the sun in the afternoon. If you do not have a dry bag, just bring your river stuff and someone will help you carry it. We will send a check-list to you the week of the event via email to be sure you have everything you need for a perfect weekend!
(Please check the event listing on the BCO calendar on 8/30 called White Water Weekend – READ FIRST) This information page will give you additional details on the weekend, lodging, dinners and such)
When & Where
Bayou City Outdoors
Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?
Typically most BCO events are for adults. But, we do love kids. If you believe your child is capable of keeping up with the group, no problem. AND if this is a bike ride they MUST wear a helmet. Questions? Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
We add parking details to the Event descriptions.
What can/can't I bring to the event?
If the temperature is above 80 or it very clearly says "No Dogs" then please don't bring your dog. We LOVE dogs and only make this rule if we feel there could be a safety concern (for the dogs of course:).
BIKE: If it is a bike ride: Bring a helmet or borrow one from us. Helmets are the single most important piece of gear you can have on a bike ride. Anyway, any time you are wearing a helmet you must be having fun!
Bring water. Frequently our events are in the woods or out of the way. Water is important.
HIKE: If it is a hiking event wear comfortable shoes. Athletic shoes, hiking boots, running shoes, just be sure your feet will be happy.
SOCIAL: If it is a social event? Wear whatever YOU feel comfortable in. We are an eclectic mix of people with all types of interests and jobs. People will come straight from work in a suit or jeans, straight from running or working out, and some of us even come cleaned up straight from the shower! (and everything in between)
Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?
Is my registration/ticket transferrable?
Can I update my registration information?
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
Printed ticket or download the EventBright app and bring it on your phone.
What is the refund policy?
Refunds up until 48 hours before. Or, better yet, get some goodwill by sharing your ticket with a friend. They will love you even more after all the fun they had at the BCO event!
The name on the registration/ticket doesn't match the attendee. Is that okay?
Yes - see love & friendship above!
