Bay Bike Ride
Meet at the Visitor Center, Fremont
Go on an 11-mile bike ride with docent Gregg Aronson along Marshlands Road and on the Shoreline Trail to observe birds and the occasional leopard shark! Pass through several habitat types along the way including salt marsh, salt pond, and the bay. The paved and dirt trails are almost flat and trail and hybrid bicycles highly recommended. Helmets are required. Recommended for more experienced bicyclists. Program cancels if it rain the day before and the day of due to mud.

No ID is required.  Participant should be able to ride up to 11 miles

Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge - Fremont

Containing almost 30,000 acres of estuarine habitat, uplands, open water, mudflats, salt ponds, and salt marshes, including much of southern San Francisco Bay, Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge provides habitat for many wildlife.  Its purpose is to protect wildlife habitat for endangered species and migratory birds, and to offer opportunities for nature study.  The refuge has two main facilities - a Visitor Contact Station in Fremont, and an Environmental Education Center in Alviso.    The Visitor Contact Station is open Tuesday-Sunday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., and the EEC in Alviso is open weekends from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.  Both are closed on all federal holidays.

Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge is part of the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge Complex and is administered by the US Fish & Wildlife Service.
