Girl Geeks and EA just go together!

Kick off your heels and get your GAME on! EA is proud to host the next Bay Area Girl Geek Dinner on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 from 5:30pm to 8:30pm at our Redwood Shores Headquarters.

We’re opening our doors for you to take a peek inside the highly dynamic world of Electronic Arts. Come meet the producers of popular titles such as Madden NFL Football, The Sims, Bejeweled Blitz, FIFA Soccer, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and many MANY more!

Event is FREE for all girl geeks. Girl geeks can register a guy geek as her “plus one” above when she RSVPs.

Network with other women in the technology industry, enjoy refreshments, product demos and fun activities.

We invite you to mix and mingle with other gamer girls in the area while enjoying food, drinks and general merriment! We have many surprises planned throughout the evening.


Schedule of events:

5:30pm – 6:00pm: Registration – EA Atrium

6:00pm – 6:45pm: EA Girl Geek Dinner Panel

6:45pm – 8:00pm: Drinks, Hors D'Oeuvres, Games and Networking!


About our featured girl geek speakers:

Jamie Valle (Assistant Development Manager, Playfish)

Jamie Valle is the Assistant Development Manager at Playfish, San Francisco. Since joining Playfish in April of this year, Jamie has focused on bringing Agile software development methods to the studio. Jamie leads daily Scrum meetings for each of the game teams, looks for ways to improve and streamline the processes in the studio, and helps her teammates do their jobs, be it art, code, or design. Prior to joining Playfish, Jamie was Assistant Producer at Planet Moon Studios. Jamie holds a BA in Theater Arts from University of California Santa Cruz. In her free time, Jamie likes to dance at 80s clubs, sing karaoke, read books, cook good food with her husband, see live music and theater, and play games (video, board, card, etc.)

 

Autumn Brown (Senior Account Manager, EA)

As part of EAi’s publishing division, Autumn Brown leads the Google relationship by setting platform strategies, establishing product slate and working across EA teams to drive key initiatives and grow the sales and profitability of the account. Google platforms currently include Android, Google+, and Chrome. Most recently MADDEN NFL 12 launched on Android and reached #1 on the Top Paid Games chart and Dragon Age Legends and Bejeweled Blitz were both available at the launch of gaming on Google+. Autumn has been at EA for 3 ½ years. Prior to leading the Google account, she was a Sr. Product Manager overseeing franchises such as Need for Speed, Rock Band, Sims and Simpsons across multiple platforms including iOS, Android, RIM, and JAVA/BREW. She was responsible for defining product requirements, collaborating with the team during the development process, and building strategic marketing plans. Autumn has a B.A. in Mass Communications from Point Park University, Pittsburg PA. Autumn enjoys playing beach volleyball, running, snowboarding and playing chess. She is married and lives in beautiful South Redondo Beach, CA.

 

Christine Fradenburg (Director of Product Marketing, Pogo)

Christine Fradenburg is currently Director of Product Marketing for Pogo, an online casual gaming site which is part of EA Interactive (EAi).  In this role, she is responsible for direct to consumer revenue for Pogo’s premium products and services which includes Club Pogo, Pogo’s subscription service with 1.4MM members, Download Games, and a fun variety of Microtransactions (MTX) such as Badges, Minis, Episodic content and Expressions.  Prior to joining Pogo/EA in 2008, Christine held several product and marketing positions with top e-commerce companies such as Shutterfly and eBay and still remembers her first job out of college over 12 years ago where she learned about the brand strength and equity of a certain little Kitty while working in Sanrio’s corporate office in South San Francisco.  Christine earned her B.S. in Marketing Management from California State University, Hayward and is a Bay Area native – growing up in Cupertino and playing Montezuma’s Revenge on her family’s Apple IIc or trying to beat her brother in Pong on the Atari.  She currently resides in Santa Clara with her husband and two children who have already discovered at the tender age of 5 and 1 the joy of playing Poppit on Mommy’s iPhone.

FROM SAN FRANCISCO AREA:

 

  • Take Highway 101 South towards San Jose
  • Exit at Holly Street
  • Take the 2nd exit route EAST towards Redwood Shores
  • Turn left at the 2nd stoplight onto Twin Dolphin Drive and follow the road
  • Turn right at the stoplight onto Shoreline Drive and follow the road
  • You will see the large grey sign for the 250 Building for Electronic Arts on the right with a small area for visitor parking
  • Continue to the Second parking lot – this is the 250 Surface Lot

 

FROM SAN JOSE AREA:

 

  • Take 101 North towards San Francisco
  • Exit at Holly Street/Redwood Shores Parkway
  • Take the 1st exit route EAST towards Redwood Shores Parkway
  • Turn left at the 2nd stoplight onto Twin Dolphin Drive and follow the road
  • Turn right at the stoplight onto Shoreline Drive and follow the road

Bay Area Girl Geek Dinners

Google hosted the first Bay Area Girl Geek Dinner in January 2008, inviting 400 girl geeks to enjoy sushi, an open bar, Google schwag, great conversation and even better networking at Charlie’s cafe on the Google Mountain View campus. Events sponsored by Facebook and Yahoo! soon followed. Startups like LOLapps and Polyvore followed suit.

Today, Bay Area Girl Geek Dinners have been hosted by a diverse set of companies including Genentech, Palantir, Microsoft, Citrix Online, Electronic Arts…

The ask is simple — buy dinner and drinks for girl geeks, and give away a piece of co-branded schwag (to extend the lifetime of the event). Invite female speakers in areas of their expertise, from well-known names to the up-and-coming. Encourage networking amongst the girl geeks and recruiting by the sponsoring company. Everyone wins.

Sukrutha Raman Bhadouria (Managing Director of Bay Area Girl Geek Dinners)

After earning her M.S. in Electrical Engineering from USC, Sukrutha now works as a Sr SW Engineer at salesforce.com. Sukrutha is involved in Girl Geek Dinners because she wants to change the world for girls, one geek dinner at a time. Follow her on Twitter at @sukruthasays.

 

Angie Chang

Angie Chang (Founder of Bay Area Girl Geek Dinners)

Angie is currently working as a Director of Growth at Hackbright Academy. She enjoys running the mentor program and finding partner companies for Hackbright. Previously, she was the editor-in-chief and co-founder of Women 2.0, a media company which promotes women in high-growth, high-tech entrepreneurship. She has held positions in product management and web/UI production at startups in the Silicon Valley. Angie started organizing Bay Area Girl Geek Dinners in January 2008 and was thrilled when Sukrutha joined the one-woman team at BAGGD in 2011.
