Speaker and Panelists Bios


Jake Beniflah, Ph.D., Executive Director at The Center for Multicultural Science

Dr. Jake Beniflah is the Executive Director of the Center for Multicultural Science, a think tank dedicated to bridging the gap between leading corporations and academic researchers in multicultural marketing and research. His experience includes work with top marketing agencies and leading consumer brands, and he is a recognized expert in Hispanic marketing, consumer insights, and brand management. Dr. Beniflah is also an Adjunct Professor at Bradley University where he teaches Hispanic Marketing.

Randy Hawks, Managing Director, Claremont Creek Ventures
Randy is a Managing Director at Claremont Creek Ventures, bringing more than 25 years of technology industry experience as a senior general manager and venture investor to the group. Randy invests in Information Technology and has a special interest in Sensor Networks and Security. In the years prior to co-founding Claremont Creek Ventures, Randy was a General Partner at Novus Ventures and a Venture Partner at Horizon Ventures.

 

Jonathan Mi, Bright Path Capital Partners, LP
Jonathan Mi is a Senior Associate at Brightpath Capital Partners, LP and is responsible for deal sourcing, due diligence, and deal execution for the company. Prior to BCP, Jonathan was an Associate at Gryphon Investors, a middle-market private equity firm where he was responsible for sourcing, analyzing, executing, and monitoring investments across the healthcare, business services, and education industries. He previously worked for Merrill Lynch, where he focused on M&A advisory services for high tech companies.


Patrick Sagisi, Associate, DBL Investors
Patrick Sag­isi is an Asso­ciate at DBL Investors, which he joined in 2011. Patrick sources and per­forms dili­gence on invest­ment oppor­tu­ni­ties, advises port­fo­lio com­pany man­age­ment, and helps port­fo­lio com­pa­nies imple­ment their dou­ble bot­tom line practices. Patrick has over 15 years of global expe­ri­ence in prod­uct man­age­ment, new prod­uct devel­op­ment, mar­ket­ing, strat­egy, oper­a­tions, and sales.


Randy Williams, Founder & CEO, Keiretsu Forum
Randy
Williams is Founder and CEO of Keiretsu Forum, a community of over 1,100 angel investors. With members throughout 27 chapters on 3 continents, Keiretsu Forum is the largest angel investment community in the World. Since its inception, Keiretsu Forum members have invested over $200m in 260 companies in technology, real estate, healthcare/biotech/life sciences and other sectors of the economy with high growth opportunity. Mr. Williams has 30 years of experience in finance, real estate, and marketing, and has previously held board and advisory positions in over fifteen companies.

Shirley Gee, Keiretsu Forum
Shirley Gee is an active investor with Keiretsu Forum and strategic consultant to start-ups in life science, technology, and service sectors. She is a retiree of the executive university officer and department head at Stanford University’s SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, and she has her BA in Business Management and MBA from Saint Mary’s College.


Brahm Amadhi, Co-Founder and Executive Director of People’s Grocery
Brahm is using a relatively unknown method to raise money for People’s Grocery: a direct-public offering (DPO). By selling founding shares directly to the public, he has already raised $650,000. He has a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California and is an MBA candidate at the Presidio School of Management. Brahm combines social enterprise, cooperative economics, urban agriculture, public education and youth development to build healthy and stable inner city communities. He is also Executive Director of the North Oakland Land Trust.
