Now in its seventh year, the Bay Area Beer Socials Holiday Toy Drive, aiding disadvantaged children from San Francisco, is a special event held to help those less fortunate.
Rogue Ales Public House is our returning sponsor this year and will host an evening of giving, fun and celebration.
This year marks the 62th Anniversary of the San Francisco Firefighter’s Toy Program, the city’s largest and the nation’s oldest program of its kind. Since 1949, the charity has evolved from a few firefighters repairing broken toys and bikes to over 300 firefighters and friends volunteering their time to distribute over 200,000 toys to more than 40,000 disadvantaged children throughout San Francisco.
Rogue is offering a great incentive when you arrive with an unwrapped toy: Bring an unwrapped toy for a boy or girl (16 and under) and receive a FREE PINT Rogue will also serve a selection of appetizers and other hot and cold goodies. The Fire Department will be on hand with their Holiday Fire Truck, barrels and bags to collect the toys and firefighters, paramedics and other personnel to greet people during the party. This is a great way to bring in the holiday spirit by giving to those less fortunate. I hope you’ll join us.
Over the last couple years there's been a growing phenomenon of people showing up at our charity toy drive without a toy. When asked why the answer seems to be "you didn't say bringing a toy is mandatory" so here's me saying what I didn't think needed to be said,
Bringing a toy to our charity toy drive is mandatory!
Sorry if that seems blunt but I'm a little puzzled about how some people don't get what the event is about.
