Come experience an event that Austin Monthly magazine deemed to be one of the best things to do during the summer in Austin! Set on Lady Bird Lake on the Capital Cruises boat Pride & Joy, Bats & Beers aims to connect brewmasters, chefs and engaged Austinites to explore creations and collaborations centered around remarkable beer and food. Come aboard this unique beer-and-food culinary adventure and let your taste buds explore the possibilities while the beautiful downtown Austin skyline sparkles around you.
After a long winter break, Bats & Beers is back on the boat to give you a firkin great time.
This special edition of Bats & Beers will proudly take you on a tour of hops with beer brewed and collaborated by Josh Hare of Hops & Grain and Joe Mohrfeld of Pinthouse Pizza.
Mosaic is a recently released hop that is bred from a Simcoe mother plant and a male derived Nugget plant.
So we're going to brew a nice hoppy beer that showcases all 3 of these hops, parents first and then dry hop with the kid, Mosaic.
Before we dry-hop the beer we're going to fill 3 firkins, or rather pins (5 gallons), and dry hop them all. One with Mosaic, one with Simcoe and the third with Nugget.
The intent here is to showcase all 3 hops separately with the pins as well as showcasing how the whole family works together in a beer.
And for those that don't like hops we'll also be doing a blend from Casa del Roble, pulling together flavors from the barrel room for a unique, one of a kind blend.
Yes, you read that correctly, 3 firkins, a first for Bats & Beers! We will also have plenty of pizza from Pinthouse Pizza for you to enjoy with the beer.
Ticket purchase gets you a 2 hour boat ride around Town Lake, beer and pizza and an intimate setting to get to know the brewers.
Note: Tickets must be purchased in advance. You must be 21 or over to attend the event. IDs will be checked at check-in.
**The boat departs the dock at 7pm, sharp! Arrive early so you aren't left on the dock without a beer in your hand.**
