COORS FIELD

On the eve of Opening Day, sit down with Denver Post baseball writers Troy E. Renck and Patrick Saunders as they discuss what it’s like to cover the Colorado Rockies. Troy and Patrick will take your questions on anything and everything related to Major League Baseball and the Rockies in specific.

The first 50 people to register will win a free Coors Field print from Denver Post photographer John Leyba.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:

Troy E. Renck has covered the Colorado Rockies and Major League Baseball since 1996. He joined The Denver Post in 2002, working as the Rockies’ beat writer. In 2005, he became the paper’s national baseball writer while continuing to cover the Rockies. Renck has won more than 20 local and national writing awards since graduating from the University of Colorado journalism school with honors in 1993. Since at The Denver Post, he has written roughly 3,500 articles and blogs, while covering nine World Series and eight All-Star Games. He is a past president of the local chapter of Baseball Writers Association of America. He is the author of “Baseball’s 100 Greatest Personalities, ’’ “Baseball’s Greatest Rivalries’’ and a compilation of his work is included in The Denver Post’s “A Magical Season,’’ chronicling the Rockies’ 2007 run to the World Series.

Patrick SaundersPatrick Saunders, a third-generation Colorado native, is in his second stint covering the Rockies for The Denver Post. After covering the Broncos from 1998-2004, he worked the Rockies beat from 2005-09, helping chronicle "Rocktober" in 2007, as well as the team's playoff run in 2009. After a two-year stint as The Post's online sports editor, he rejoined the Rockies beat in 2012. Saunders is a graduate of Arvada High School and attended Fort Lewis College in Durango, earning degrees in U.S. history and secondary education. He later earned a master's degree in journalism from the University of Colorado. Saunders and his wife, Nancy, live in Englewood with their golden retrievers, Shelby and Ginger.

Troy and Patrick cover the Rockies year round, from the start of spring training in early February through the end of the regular season, and, just when you think things slow down, they're still following the team deep into the offseason, when most of the key roster moves are made. Learn what makes them stay energized for the 162-game season, and get their best fantasy league advice as we kick off another season at Coors Field.
