WHAT is Basara?

The word "Basara" is taken from the language of Dayaks (the native Kalimantan ethnic group), which means "gathering". Basara is a gathering which will bring individuals from various cultures, races, religions, and backgrounds together and provide an opportunity for them to connect and collaborate, while also learning and having experiences in this magical place called Kalimantan. Kalimantan is an Indonesian province located on the island of Borneo, which it also shared with Malaysia and Brunei.

Basara will take the form of a Youth Camp with a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, in large and small group formats. Examples of Subud activities will be similar to those found at World Congresses, such as daily latihans, wing body workshops (social, arts & culture, enterprise, and health), kejiwaan gatherings, experience sharing, and testing. Examples of non-Subud activities will be knowledge and skill sharing, sport competitions, tours and trips along rivers and through the jungle, social works to the local communities, arts and culture performances, and numerous Youth-driven initiatives.

WHO is coming to Basara?

The main invitation is sent out to all Subud Youths worldwide between the ages of 17-35 years. The vision for Basara is to bring young Subud members together from all over the world in one place and one time. They can all connect, share, and make an impact by developing something valuable and lasting for Subud, Kalimantan, the world, and themselves. Adult Subud members, helpers, and organizational representatives are highly encouraged to participate and help facilitate this important event. We also welcome dearly non-Subud children, family and friends of the Subud Youth who want to know more about Subud or just spend the year-end in the beautiful surroundings of Rungan Sari and enjoy exciting tourist attractions in Central Kalimantan. Although we expect to see around 100-200 participants in total, we hope to see many more join and contribute to this congress!

WHEN will Basara take place and for how long?

Basara will take place in less than a year from now, starting from 29th December 2016 and crossing over to 8th January 2017 for 10 days. That's right, we're going to bring in the new year together!

WHERE will Basara be held?

You will be expected to stay in Rungan Sari, Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan where the facilities and venues will be available to ensure a rich and exciting 10-day stay. To highlight the 'camp' feel, the Youths will stay together in one place (with male and female separation, of course), while adult Subud members and families will stay in the hotel and residential houses. Whether you are looking for a proper jungle experience, or prefer something more comfortable, various activities will be available to suit your needs.

WHY come to Basara?

Mark your calendar and start saving because Basara will be an experience that we'll never forget, an awakening for ourselves and for Subud Youths all over the world. Don't miss this opportunity to find yourself, find some lifetime friends, and have amazing experiences in one of the most unique places in the world that will be memorable for a lifetime!
