Bartenders' Run to Kick Cancer's Ass
Friday, October 21, 2011 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM (PDT)
Welcome to the Portland Cocktail Week!
We invite you to take a break from drinking.
Novo Fogo’s co-founder Emily LaCroix-Axinte is battling breast cancer and winning! Join “Team Emily” on a run/walk of 50 city blocks (4K) through the streets of Portland to help advance cancer research and get in shape.
100% of proceeds will be donated to Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, the Pacific Northwest’s world-renowned beacon of the good fight.
Public: $25 (plus transaction fees). We welcome the public, cocktail fans or not!
Members of any bar guild: the $25 fee and transaction fees are sponsored by Novo Fogo, as long as you complete the course. (Sometimes it pays to sling drinks!) But hey, please be prepared to convince us that you are a bartender when you show up for the run.
Sponsor a runner! Can run but can't afford to pay? Or can pay but can't afford to run? Let us know and we'll pair you up with someone. Send an email to email@example.com.
Visit www.facebook.com/TeamEmily to learn about avoiding cancer, living with cancer, and how Emily is doing. (She's doing well. But it still hurts.)
When & Where
Novo Fogo Cachaças are handcrafted from estate-grown, organic sugarcane in the town of Morretes of Southern Brazil, in an area known as Mountains of the Sea. The zero-waste distillery is surrounded by protected rainforest, often above the clouds, and overlooking the Atlantic Coast. Visiting Morretes carries the big risk of learning the way of "a vida mais simples" (the simpler life) and not wanting to return. Well, we say, that's what we call "progress." Please, do stay.
