Baking with Bacon:  Desserts Featuring Bacon

Kiss My Bundt Baking Academy @SURFAS


Bacon is one of the food ingredients that have migrated from savories to sweets.  In 2009, Chef Chrysta of Kiss My Bundt Bakery was featured in the LA Times food section for her Maple Bacon Cake.  Come to this class and learn this recipe, as well as many others. 

This class takes place 2 days after national Bundt Cake Day (November 15th), and a few hours after our friends at Cast Iron Gourmet do a demonstration on their world-class bacon.


Whether you are a novice or an expert baker/cook, you will have a great time and learn a lot in this class No prior baking experience is required to be successful or have fun in this class!


Class Menu:

For the afternoon, we’ll be making a variety of bacon baked goods, including:

  • Maple Bacon Cake Bundt Cake with Maple Glaze
  • Candied Bacon and Maple Glazed Pecan Cookies
  • Milk Chocolate and Bacon Mini Bundts with Chocolate Ganache Buttercream
  • Bacon Crème Anglaise 
  • Bacon and Leek Quiche Tart, scratch-made crust


Here's how the class works:

  1. Students will receive a recipe packet with foundational recipes for cakes, frostings, fillings, and sauces.
  2. Next students will be taught the underlying food science and proper techniques that will set them up for baking success.
  3. Students are then divided into small teams to bake and "finish" (frost, glaze, or sauce) their desserts.
  4. At the end of the class, students will taste the various creations and take home what's left.  Boxes are available for purchase or feel free to bring your boxes or tupperware.

BONUS:  Because this class takes place at Surfas Los Angeles, students will also recieve a discount coupon to shop in one of Chef Chrysta Wilson's favorite chef meccas.


Additional Info:

  • Price: Class is $70 and this includes material fees.  Students will take home a box of cakes created in the class.
  • Age Requirements:  Participants should be 16+ years old, or 14 years old accompanied by a paying adult.
  • What To Bring:  Please bring an apron and a knife that you are comfortable using.

Kiss My Bundt has been everything from an award-winning retail bakery to a successful catering company.  These days, it's a culinary destination for baking and cooking instruction, driven by a love of food and wine.   

Started in 2009, Kiss My Bundt Baking and Cooking Academy was born to teach students how to bake cakes and frostings from scratch.  Since then, Chef Chrysta and her team have taught over 2000 students across California.

Released in 2010, The Kiss My Bundt Cookbook authored by Bakery owner and Chef Chrysta Wilson continues to be integral to the Baking Classes.
