A talk with Lorenzo Franchini
The world is experiencing an explosion of technology entrepreneurship and investing. Hubs like Singapore, Berlin, New York and Tel Aviv have emerged alongside Silicon Valley with thriving startup ecosystems of their own.
Lorenzo Franchini, angel investor and founder of Italian Angels for Growth, is half-way through a 8-month sabbatical traveling around the world to some of the most interesting cities for early stage VC. Lorenzo will be stopping by Stanford for a few days and we asked him to share his insights and learnings from his explorations of VC investing in Asia, Europe and the US.

Lorenzo Franchini is an angel investor with managerial experience and entrepreneurial background in diversified sectors. Angel investor since 2006, one year later Lorenzo co-founded the angel group Italian Angels for Growth and managed the group as MD till early 2014.
He is still entrepreneur in the entertainment sector and has done angel investments in more about 20 companies in the IT/ICT, Internet & New Media, Cleantech, Medtech and Biotech sectors in Italy, France, Spain, UK, Israel and US.
As a manager he started his career in the IVECO Group (international operations and marketing manager in UK) and then became marketing director of two start-ups in the Italian Yellow Pages and Stage Entertainment Groups.
Lorenzo graduated with honour in Economics and Commerce at the University of Florence and had international executive education. He is also part of several national and international start-up selection committees and he is frequently lecturer on angel investing in many Italian Universities.
