Why are the best curriculum designs planned “backward?” Backward design begins with identifying desired results and then works backward to develop instruction. This approach represents a shift in focus from content to performance. Learn how to design your course to promote critical reading among your students and authentic assessment in any course! We will examine the logic of backward design and review a model for developing instruction and assessments intended to deepen understanding of important ideas.
