About Backstage at the Blues Fest
Backstage at the Blues Fest was born in 2012 to highlight the culture and heritage of Baton Rouge blues music and its musicians in conjunction with the Baton Rouge Blues Festival. This interview series brings in a select number of artists to talk about their history, education, experiences and music in a informal environment. Backstage at the Blues Fest has grown since its inception, adding an additional interview slot each year. Partnering with the Baton Rouge Blues Foundation, Launch Media will record the interviews with the intention of documenting our rich blues heritage for generations to come. You can view previous interviews from past festival performers C.C. Adcock, Lavelle White, Oscar Harpo Davis, Blind Boy Paxton and Bobby Rush on our YouTube channel. Without the generous support of the following sponsors, Backstage at the Blues Fest would not be possible: Launch Media, Manship Theatre, Louisiana's Old State Capitol, Clear Channel, Denicola's, and Red Stick Guitar and Amp.

Baton Rouge Blues Festival

Free and open to the public, the 2015 Baton Rouge Blues Festival will be held on April 11 from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. in downtown Baton Rouge. Originating in 1981, the Baton Rouge Blues Festival is one of the oldest free blues festivals in America. Produced by the Baton Rouge Blues Foundation, the festival is made possible in part by the foundation board of directors, a volunteer Blues Festival Committee, partners and local support, as well as several generous sponsors. In order to keep the festival free, we appreciate your cooperation in supporting our vendors throughout the day and not bringing any outside food or drink.  All revenue generated from the festival goes towards the mission of the Blues Foundation to help continue its goal to promote, preserve and celebrate the "Swamp Blues" music native to Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
