Event Details

Why not spice up your cooking repertoire with a sprinkle of turmeric, star anise or coriander? Let Azalina from Azalina's and Binita from Bini's Kitchen show you how to create traditional Malaysian and Nepalese dishes that will transport you from the Bay to the foothills of the Himalayas and the stalls of Malaysia's markets.

About the Chefs:

Azalina Head shot

Azalina Eusope grew up in Penang, Malaysia and is a trained pastry chef who worked in Singapore, Japan, and several other countries before moving to the United States. While living in San Francisco, she missed all the tongue-tingling Malaysian food she grew up with, so she decided to formally set up her own food business. Today, you can find her packaged products at Whole Foods, the Bi Rite Market, at the La Cocina Kiosk in the Ferry Building.

Binita Pradhan
Binita Pradhan is a native of Kathmandu, Nepal and is an Executive Chef by training. She brings years of experience working in the Nepali Food Industry to her own business, which is the sole Nepalese catering company in San Francisco.

La Cocina

La Cocina is a ground-breaking business incubator designed to reduce the obstacles that often prevent low-income food entrepreneurs from creating successful and sustainable small businesses. By providing affordable, shared, commercial kitchen space, an array of industry-specific technical assistance and services, and access to market opportunities and capital, La Cocina works with entrepreneurs as they launch, grow, and formalize successful food businesses. We focus primarily on women from culturally diverse communities and immigrant communities. Our vision is that our program participants will become economically self-sufficient and contribute to a vibrant and diverse economy doing what they love to do.
