An introduction to The Natural Step Framework Lead by Maura Dilley
The Natural Step Framework is a comprehensive model for planning in complex systems developed in Sweden in 1989 and in constant use and refinement ever since. The Framework has helped hundreds of different organisations around the world integrate sustainable development into their strategic planning and create long lasting transformative change.
Take an evening to learn how this Framework could help you think through the sustainability challenge. The Natural Step Framework is based on systems thinking; recognizing that what happens in one part of a system affects every other part. It gives an organisation the tools to look at the whole system, understand the rules of the system, define success, and move towards it together. The Framework provides a common language with which to share mental model of sustainability and help people across organizations, disciplines and cultures to communicate effectively, build consensus and ultimately move toward their vision. This Framework gives organizations the tools to perform a gap analysis using the lens of sustainability, and then work toward closing the gap. Lastly, The Framework for Strategic Sustainable Development complements other sustainability tools and methodologies, such as life cycle analysis or environmental management systems, by providing the context and strategic vision that makes them more effective.
People wishing to wrap their head around the sustainability challenge for personal enrichment or as an orientation to an organizational change strategy will be engaged in a hands on, collaborative and fun workshop guaranteed to inspiration and guidance in a complex world.
