Event Details

Featuring Orestes Vilato and Maria Marquez.

Azesu, a new group, co-lead by Orestes Vilato and Jonathan Alford and featuring the talents of David Pinto, Omar Ledezma, Sheldon Brown and Maria Marquez has just released a new CD. Azesu started with the idea of combining, through a true collaboration, all the musical influences of its members in a way which pays homage to the great songs and musical traditions of the Americas. Orestes brings the knowledge of a master born and raised in Cuba and one of the seminal figures in the NY salsa scene. Omar, Maria and David bring to the recording the rich musical legacy of South America while Sheldon and Jonathan add a jazz flavor tempered with a latin sensibility. The album has 'haunting, amazing' vocals by Maria, wonderful percussion work by Orestes and Omar and arrangements which blend the traditional and modern in an effortless way. We feel we represent musical tribes which have come together to make music which honors all of our roots. WWW.AZESU.COM
