Our Holiday Ambush event is a part of the "Putting Your Money Where Your Heart Is Project". It all started with a dollar and a dream...literally. Amidst all of the headlines splashed across our television screens on a daily basis, La Detra White found a way to make a positive impact on African American communities in the Metro Atlanta area. While driving through East Point, GA one evening, La Detra saw a quaint cupcake shop that looked like it had the potential to thrive. Her compassionate soul felt an idea brewing and then the "Putting Your Money Where Your Heart Is Project" was born. She decided to take the profits from her book, "This Is My Story, But It Is Not My Life", and sow them into small, black-owned businesses. The next week, La Detra surprised Henry and Kascha Adeleye with a hefty cash donation and resources that some small business owners only dream about. To this day, La Detra continues to ambush small business owners via Facebook Live and spread joy and compassion in our communities and throughout the country.
