Event Details

The Hoboken Library is happy to welcome Hoboken author Holly Metz who will be reading from her new book “Killing the Poormaster”.

Holly Metz has written about law, culture and social issues for a broad range of newspapers, journals and magazines, including Preservation magazine, Labor History, Poets & Writers and the New York Times. She lives in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Killing the Poormaster brings to light the shocking Depression-era murder that put on trial a city’s corruption and the nation’s shameful treatment of the poor.

The author’s book will be available for purchase and the author will be available to sign copies.
“Holly Metz deserves tremendous praise for accomplishing the difficult task of evoking the pain and pathos of a long-forgotten incident, and allowing it to illuminate our own problems involving wealth and work and unemployment.” —Washington Monthly
