Calling all Data Geeks!
This party is for Data Geeks. if data is your thing, join us! We've had to disable free tickets because of all the automated RSVP programs running this year at SXSW. Data professionals may request a free pass. Send an email with your linkedin URL to email@example.com.
During the 2nd weekend of March, tens of thousands of tech/creatives descend upon Austin for SXSW. From among this crowd, come data geeks from all over the world. We need to get together. Share a drink. In the same room.
To facilitate this, GeekAustin, with the support of our friends, is hosting the Austin Data Party.
Joining us as cosponsors are fine folks from Pervasive DataRush, Objectivity, Infochimps, Datafiniti, Bracewell Giuliani, and 10gen. Want to join us as a sponsor? Send a note to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If the following buzzwords get you excited, you should RSVP now: Big Data, Data Science, Search, NoSQL, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Predictive Analysis, Computational Linguistics, Large Scale Graph Analysis, Analytics. Statistical Natural Language Processing, Fine-Grained Parallelism, Cassandra, Hadoop, MongoDB, CouchDB, Solr, Mahout, Tika, Lucene, Weee!
The event is tentatively scheduled to be held two blocks from the convention center at Elysium. Like last year, the event will sell out. Don't risk being left out. RSVP now.
This year's Smackdown
For this year's Data Smackdown, we've resurrected an old fight: MySQL vs. PostgreSQL. Jim Nasby and Boyd Hemphill will be dukeing it out, with the one and only Joe Celko as referee. Details at GeekAustin.
