 lacpug meets are now made possible by

Tentpoles and Breaking Bad

Join us Wednesday, August 28 for a very special Summer lacpug Meet.

Academy Award nominated film editor Matt Chesse ACE returns to lacpug to talk "Editing Tentpoles," in particular World War Z.

And editor Kelley Dixon returns to talk and take a bow for her six seasons of editing the acclaimed TV show, Breaking Bad.

Plus another round of Stump The Gurus and World Famous Raffle!

There will be plenty of time for Q and A, so take advantage of this opportunity to get up close and personal with two of entertainments finest picture editors.


NOTE: lacpug generally meets every 4th Wednesday of the Month
Meetings are open to public and ALL beginning through advanced Digital Story Tellers are welcome

6:45- 7:15PM - Stump the Gurus
Join Gurus
 Monica Daniel, Adam Bedford and Philip Hodgetts as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCS and FCPX, Avid, Premiere Pro and anything else you can think of. If they can't solve your problem or answer your question, then you go home with a problem, but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.

7:30PM - 8:20PM - A Conversation with Kelley Dixon on editing Breaking Bad
Editor Kelley Dixon returns to lacpug, having just finished season six of arguably the finest Television series in history, Breaking Bad. We intend to have an informal conversation with Kelley, show a couple clips, and open the rest of the time to you the audience.

About Kelley Dixon
Kelley Dixon just finished up Season Six of “Breaking Bad.”

Kelley has been nominated twice by the American Cinema Editors (A.C.E. ) for Season 3 and Season 4 of "Breaking Bad" and has recently been nominated for a Prime Time Emmy for BB's Season Five Episode "Gliding All Over."

Kelley grew up in Chicago, Illinois and got a degree in journalism at Colorado State University. She originally had her sights on writing for advertising but got a job in the mailroom at MGM Studios soon after graduating.

After working as a Production Assistant and an Assistant Editor on Features and Television for 17 years, Kelley landed an editing position on Season One of "Breaking Bad."

9:00PM - 9:50PM - Editing Tentpoles - Matt Chesse and Dan Lebental
We welcome back Academy Award nominated editor Matt Chesse and Dan Lebental to lacpug. Matt has edited such films as Monsters Ball, Finding Neverland, Quantum of Solace, “Warrior” starring Tom Hardy and recently, World War Z. Dan has edited 2 Iron Man movies as well as ELF and many more. We intend to have a conversation with them about editing "tentpole" movies. Is it different? If so, how? There will be plenty of time for questions.

About Matt Chesse A.C.E.
Matt Chesse is an American film editor, producer, and director who is mainly associated with Independent films. He was nominated for the Academy Award for Film Editing for Finding Neverland. Chesse has edited most of the films directed by Marc Forster, including the James Bond film Quantum of Solace and most recently, World War Z. Chesse was born and raised in the San Francisco, California area, and received a bachelor's degree in English literature from San Francisco State University. After college he was invited to relocate to Los Angeles, California to assist Peter Kagan, a director of commercials, at Stiefel and Co. He next worked as an assistant to Angus Wall, an editor at the commercial editorial shop Rock, Paper, Scissors. Chesse became an editor under the tutelage of David Lee and Lauren Zuckerman. His first project with Marc Forster was on the film Everything Put Together, which led to their collaboration on the very successful film Monster's Ball. Chesse has been elected to membership in the American Cinema Editors. He has been nominated, for an Oscar in 2005: Best Achievement in Editing for Finding Neverland, an Eddie in 2005: Best Edited Feature Film - Dramatic for Finding Neverland, and a Satellite Award in 2008: Best Film Editing for Quantum of Solace which he shared with Richard Pearson

About Dan Lebental A.C.E.
Dan Lebental is a Hollywood professional editor, the founder and the designer of Touchedit. He has been editing feature films for more than twenty years, working with some of Hollywood's top movie studios and directors. His long time collaboration with Jon Favreau has yielded hits such as ELF and the blockbusters IRON MAN and IRON MAN 2. His versatility across genres includes working on comedies, dramas, thrillers, documentaries, TV projects as represented by more than 20 movies and hundreds of music videos cut over the span of his career. 
He recently completed the documentary THE ART OF CONFLICT as both Producer and Editor.

Dan Lebental is a member of American Cinema Editors and the Motion Picture Academy of Arts, has lectured on the art of editing at USC and has spoken at various international conferences.

Throughout his career Dan continues to support and mentor students and aspiring beginners taking pleasure in fostering a new generation of editors.

The Los Angeles Creative Pro User Group, (formally lafcpug) was established in June of 2000 and now boasts a total membership of over 6000 people worldwide. lafcpug meets once a month in Hollywood, Ca. where it attracts 200-250 people a meeting. Headed up by Michael Horton, lacpug is the largest User Group dedicated to digital storytellers in the world.
