Join us for a special Summer night of learning, networking and an air conditioned theatre. Autodesk's Marc-Andre Ferguson will make the trip from Autodesk Headquarters in Montreal to show off the all new Smoke 2013. Marc-André will be joined by Kanen Flowers, Creative Director at Scruffy.TV
Plus Editor Shane Ross on "Editing a Sizzle Reel" when only given YouTube links and minimal direction.
Plus Stump the Gurus, World Famous Raffle and who knows what else.
Also, and this is BIG. We will demo a new 2K projector at this meet. If we like it and it works, we then go out and beg for money to buy it. Note: All the audio and visual equipment we use was donated by several companies and is on permanent loan to the Gallery Theatre for ALL to use.

Join Gurus Andrew Balis, Michael Kammes and Shane Ross as they will attempt to answer all of your questions and solve all of your problems concerning FCS and FCPX, Avid, Premiere Pro and anything else you can think of. If they can't solve your problem or answer your question, then you go home with a problem, but you still got out of the house, so that's not a bad thing.

Kanen will talk about his workflow for That Media Showusing Smoke.

Marc-André Ferguson is the Founder of Final Cut Montreal User Group and is Product Evangelist forSmoke at Autodesk. Marc-André has been involved in the film and video industry since 1995 as a director, editor, trainer and consultant. Marc-André also founded Luminance, a specialized training and consulting services on Apple software and technologies, for the film and television industry. He was one of the original product designers on Smoke for Mac and he is now an active blogger onAREA, the Autodesk M&E digital community.

In the lobby will be many FCP, Avid and Premiere Gurus. This is your chance to ask questions. No questions? Then talk to each other. Also in the lobby will be Tery Williams and Christina Oliver from brand new lafcpug Platinum SponsorAJA. Also, brand new lafcpug sponsor, Hot Pixel Post will be there to answer all your post production questions. Also, Smoke 2013 will be in the lobby. It will be a PACKED lobby. The break is a chance to hang out and meet and greet and get your problems solved and who knows, get a job. You never know who you are going to meet at lafcpug. Snacks and Beer and Wine will be on sale in the lobby. Proceeds go to the Gallery Theater.
9:00PM - 9:45PM - Editing "The Amazing Spider-Man" - Alan Edward Ball
Editor Alan Edward Bell will share a bit of the workflow he used on the edit of the recent hit movie, "Amazing Spider-Man." Alan will share some stories, and show us how he uses Eyeon fusion's connect plugin to create performance enhancing effects. There will be time for questions.
About Alan Edward Bell
Alan Edward Bell is an autodidact, born and raised in Los Angeles. He started his career as a rock climbing and backpacking guide in the early eighties. Tired of being poor he decided to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Norman Hollyn (famous editor and now head of the USC editing track) gave Alan his first break in the industry in 1984 on the film "Daddy's Boys" produced by Roger Corman. Afterwards Alan went on to work with his long time mentor and friend Robert Lieghton on many of the early films of Rob Riener. Most recently he cut "The Amazing Spiderman" directed by Marc Webb and produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment. For a full list of his credits please check out his IMDB credit list here.
