Crossroads "Crash" Course
for Career Transition
What you learn in these 7 sessions could change your life!
Step by step, this class will help guide you how to find a job if you are unemployed or anticipating a career transition. Our Crossroads "Crash" Course for Career Transition is based upon the "Seven Steps Workbook” developed by Crossroads Career Network (www.crossroadscareer.org). This course is sponsored by an interdenominational group of Northside Atlanta churches, all members of Crossroads Career Network. We call it the “Crash Course” because it is an intense version of the class often taught over 7-14 weeks.
The June course is hosted by Intown Community Church in the Toco Hills area of Atlanta, 2059 Lavista Road, Atlanta GA 30329.

WHO TEACHES THIS CLASS?
We have assembled a team of expert facilitators -- leaders in career ministry programs at area churches, all experienced both in business and in helping others learn effective ways to search for new career opportunities! Many have also been unemployed before and understand the challenges you are facing. The $40 course tuition covers our direct costs of offering this program (online career assessments, printed materials, credit card processing) and scholarships for those unable to pay for the course. Our volunteers are not compensated, and facilities are provided by our sponsoring church. No one profits but you! (This course is an exceptional value. If you were to purchase the online career assessment individually, the cost would be $132, more than 3 times the cost for this entire course!)

IMPORTANT CLASS PREPARATION NOTES:
- Attendance at ALL 7 sessions is required, this is not a "drop-in" class
- Several hours of outside preparation for each session will be required for the course.
- You will need a computer with internet access to complete the outside assignments.
- Please register only if you agree to complete the outside work and attend all sessions.
WHO CAN ATTEND?
This class is open to EVERYONE. This program is provided by Crossroads Career Network member churches and volunteers committed to service to others. There is an emphasis on Christian beliefs in our class, but regardless of your faith you will benefit from this class. You do not have to be a member of our sponsor churches (or of any church) to attend. You are welcome to the career ministry programs and all activities at any of these churches.
If this month's class is full, add your name to the waitlist. We'll let you know if we can accommodate you and if not, you will receive information on future classes.
If you cannot afford to pay for this class, do not register now. We keep our costs low and believe most people can afford to pay full tuition; for those who cannot, we can offer partial assistance. For those who are not working, do not have a working spouse or other resources and could not otherwise attend the class, we can sometimes provide full tuition assistance. Tuition assistance is limited and we encourage all participants to pay. (Our experience tells us that those who make even a small investment in the class are more likely to complete the course!) Here are brief biographies on our class facilitators, hosts and team:
Judi Adams - Judi is owner of RightChanges.biz, and author of: Found a Job Yet? and Other Questions NOT to Ask, a book written to help jobseeker, their friends and families. Judi is a 20 veteran of the IT industry and began coaching job seekers in 2002 following an eight month job transition of her own. During that job transition she discovered how much the job market had changed and the successful approach to landing that next job. She founded RightChanges in February of 2009 and 100% of RightChanges’ clients who completed the personal coaching series are now employed in jobs they wanted. She is an active member in ICF and the Georgia Coach Association. Rich von Biberstein - Rich is a 20+ year veteran of the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry, with expertise in Sales, Business Development and Business Intelligence. As an outreach, Rich volunteers as a job networking group facilitator with Intown Community Church. Having experienced two job search campaigns in his career, Rich understands the daily grind of the job search process and works with others to develop successful strategies to gain employment. He firmly believes that there are many different paths to landing a new job, but networking remains the consistent tool that helps expedite the search. Gary Davis - With 3more than 30 years of experience in the technology industry, Gary’s experience includes channel sales and marketing, international sales, corporate marketing and management. Gary is President of CMIT Solutions of Atlanta-North Perimeter, a provider of business-class IT services. Gary is an active member of Dunwoody UMC, a member of the Chancel Choir and began leading the career ministry at Dunwoody UMC as a volunteer in 2001. Gary most frequently facilitates Step 7 (Selection). Gary also coordinates the mock interview session and often teaches Step 5 (Searching). Chris Gilliam - Chris has contributed her skills in professional development, training, coaching and career services for over 30 years. Experienced in corporate management and human resources consulting, she designed and implemented a wide variety of seminars, performance management systems and coaching programs. Chris is owner of the Gilliam Group, where she coaches individuals in career transition. Professional affiliations include career consulting with Right Management and career coaching with REA, providing career transition services to spouses of transferred employees. She is a registered Corporate Coach, certified as a Christian Career Management Coach and as an Online Networking Strategist. Chris holds certifications in several assessments as well as in Targeted Selection Behavioral Interviewing. Randall Lucius, Ph.D. - Randy is Director of Organizational Development for Emory University. He has over 15 years of experience in executive assessment and coaching, job analysis, competency modeling, employee selection, litigation support, performance management, 360 degree feedback, personality assessment and leadership development. His past consulting experience includes a wide range of clients, including Fortune 500, government and non-profit. With a PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from the University of Georgia, Randy has prior experience working in both corporate HR and academics. He co-authored Fitability 5, a personality-based assessment administered to more than a quarter-million individuals and co-founded Organizational Diagnostics Online. A licensed psychologist, he has served as an adjunct faculty member at Oglethorpe University. Anne Riggsby - Anne shares decades of experience in Human Resources and Talent Management with individuals seeking to follow God's calling in their work and personal lives. Ann specializes in designing and implementing programs in areas including career development, coaching, succession planning, recognition, recruiting and performance management. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a Certified Tough Transitions Career Coach. Anne has served as a volunteer with Crossroads Career Network at Mount Pran Church since 1999. Bob Sabin - Bob has 30+ years of professional sales experience having worked for large corporations like Poloroid and Bell&Howell, but more recently has dedicated his efforts to selling technology to public safety entities. He pioneered some of the first personal computers, digital records management systems, digital cameras and more recently, cloud applications. Bob's experience has been put to good use, serving as the co-chair for Career Transition Ministries at First Presbyterian Church of Marietta for more than 10 years. David Sheffield - A senior-level accounting and finance professional with over 25 years of diverse experience, is currently CFO for an Atlanta technology firm. David has personally experienced God’s leading through several career transitions and now shares those experiences with others through the Crossroads Career Explorer workshop ministry at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in Marietta GA, where he also serves as a deacon. David has facilitated the Crossroads Six Steps Workshop, Maximizing Your Career in Turbulent Times, for four years at Johnson Ferry. C.J. ("Buck") Trayser, Ed.D. - An experienced technology and learning systems project manager during the "regular" 9-to-5 workday, Buck is also an online adjunct professor teaching management, technology and educational courses. When not managing projects or teaching courses, Buck also volunteers his time as a Ministry Leader at Mount Paran Church, one of the Crossroads Career Network member churches in Atlanta where he specializes in resume reviews, helping others develop networking skills and lecturing on effective Internet job search methods. He spends countless hours combing the various Internet job boards, resume pools and social networking sites in an effort to gain a first-hand view of the current job market and job search challenges. Daniel Whitenack, Ph.D. - Dan Whitenack is a licensed psychologist who earned his B.A. degree from Emory University and his Ph.D. in Industrial Psychology from the University of Nebraska. He was awarded the Presidential Fellowship as the University's Outstanding Graduate Student. He worked for BellSouth/AT&T for five years before joining Consulting Psychology Group, where he has worked for 20+ years. He has tested/evaluated over 15,000 candidates for various companies across different industries. He has also coached hundreds of managers. Jim Yates, SPHR - An experienced human resources professional with more than 25 years as a leader in the delivery of human resources services, Jim has experience in a broad array of industries and has worked in both union and non-union HR environments. Jim’s specialty areas include employee relations, recruiting, talent management, training & development and executive coaching. Jim is currently a Senior Consultant for Right Management. Previously, he was Director of Human Resources for Assurant and has held similar positions for major companies including E*Trade Financial, IKON and MCI. "North Atlanta Crossroads" is a group of volunteers from a network of interdenominational churches in North and Northwest Atlanta. Each church is a member of the Crossroads Career Network, and their volunteer career ministry teams are working together to offer a series of "crash courses" to help kick-start a job search for those who are unemployed or considering a career transition.
