Marcel has worked as an FX consultant and trainer for studios such as Digital Domain, DreamQuest, Warner Digital and continues to do so for Pixar, Dreamwoks, and ILM. He has worked on productions going as far back as  Inspector Gadget, Batman Returns, and Pirates of the Caribbean. 

 

His background is in industrial design and did work for design studios such as Honda R&D and Hauser Design. His design work has been published in ‘Popular Mechanics’, ‘ID magazine’, ‘CGW’, ‘Innovation’ and co-authored several books and articles on visualization workflows. He was a winner of the 1999 IDSA Design Excellence Awards and his education is from UT Arlington, TX,  and Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. He is a co-founder of Gnomon, School of Visual Effects and taught there for 12 years.

 

Description:

Marcel’s presentation will cover a number of key features introduced in Maya 2017. These features range from an extensive suite of procedural motion graphics tools to extended functionality in BOSS (for Bifrost particle simulations) and Solid Angle’s Arnold renderer which is included with Maya 2017. As part of the rendering presentation Marcel will also present  content designed and developed specifically for an internal Autodesk project.
