Augsburg Fortress looks forward to seeing you in the Twin Cities at our FREE Summer 2015 Music Clinic!

This summer, join hundreds of other church musicians in exploring fresh and innovative ways to enliven music in worship. Summer Music Clinics are designed for everyone involved in creating and planning music for worship.

Read through new seasonal music, attend workshops led by clinicians Michael Burkhardt, Kristina Langlois and Jill Mahr, participate in and attend a hymn festival.

Michael Burkhardt and Kris Langlois will lead a variety of workshops, including “Advent: A Season of Longing and Expectation" (Michael Burkhardt) and “What Tools Are in Your Hymn Playing Toolbox ” (Kris Langlois), along with choral, keyboard, children’s, and handbell (Jill Mahr) reading sessions.

Join other musicians and the community for “A Holy Week Journey Festival of Hymns ” with Michael and Kris. Give your choir members the opportunity to rehearse and sing with Michael Burkhardt at the 6 p.m. rehearsal prior to the hymn festival.

What Tools are in Your Hymn Playing Toolbox – Kris Langlois

This workshop addresses the challenges of playing hymns of diverse styles in a way that acknowledge the culture and community from which the hymn originates and in which it presently happens. We will explore various techniques by which the organist can render a dynamic interpretation of hymns that will help congregations find inspiration and joy in singing hymns.

Advent… A Season of Longing and Anticipation – Michael Burkhardt

A “hands on” experiential workshop for organists, worship planners and choir directors of all age groups with a Focus on creative and unified worship planning and musical offerings, both planned and spontaneous.

Children in Worship – Michael Burkhardt

A “hands on” experiential workshop for worship leaders and choir directors focusing on introducing and engaging children in worship. Introducing the new Choristers Guild publication Worship and the Young Child, with creative materials from the hearts, hands and voices Worship and Fine Arts Curriculum; as well as Sundays and Seasons
