The "Audible Colors" reception will be on Friday, April 19th. This showcase will feature an array of colors, stories and perspectives from artists David Polka, Stella Kisstiger and Chaves Smith. The show runs from April 5 - 27.
Originally from Las Cruces, New Mexico, David Polka began his art career with a BFA from the University of New Mexico. For the past six years, Polka has been showing works in New Mexico and California which explore the ephemeral human experience as culled from forgotten stories, places and people. Polka works with ink, acrylic, colored pencil, and graphite on wood panels.
Stella Kisstiger was born in the land-locked, formerly soviet, Eastern European country of Belarus. Now painting out of Berkeley, Stella draws inspiration from human behavior and our relationships, as well as nature and philosophy. Using acrylics, oils, mixed media, encaustics on canvas and wood, Stella works "to capture the impulses coming from the world in their most raw form and mold them with [her] spirit, [her] dreams, [her] state of mind."
Chaves Smith, also a New Mexico native, thrives on pure passion and carnal energy to create his pieces. He strives to express honesty in all aspects of his art. Using colors that resonate with the Southwest, Smith works towards brighter days and "finding purpose in the mundane."
Artist's reception on the third Friday in April, 4/19 at 7pm.
"Audible Colors" will be on display from April 5-27, with weekly Saturday hours from 12-4pm.
