On October 16, 2012, from 1:00 PM to 3:45 PM EST a free training session by live webcast will be held for attorneys interested in assisting possible claimants in the USDA Hispanic and Women Farmers and Ranchers Claims Process (HWFRCP). To attend the training, please register through the link displayed at the top of this invitation.
Through contracts with USDA, both Farmers’ Legal Action Group, Inc., and the National Agricultural Law Center are developing, training, and communicating with a network of lawyers that will provide individual assistance to Hispanic and women farmer claimants in completing and submitting claims forms. The goal of this project is to organize and train a network of lawyers that can provide direct assistance to potential claimants.
Those participating in the HWFRCP referral network will assist Hispanic and Women farmers to complete and submit claims forms in a non-judicial, non-adversarial process designed to resolve past claims of discrimination in the USDA Farm Loan Programs. The claims are based on actions that occurred between 1981 and and 1996 or mid-October 1998 and mid-October 2000. For additional information about the claims process, please visit the official claims website at https://www.farmerclaims.gov/. The National Agricultural Law Center has also made information and additional resources available through its website at http://nationalaglawcenter.org/usda-claims/.
