Tract One: Guidance - Taking it to the NEXT Level! (Build on Basic guidance principles!)
Executive Function – What is it and how do we help our children develop it? Executive Function. . . a set of mental processes that helps us connect past experience with present action . . . Current research shows us how children develop it, how we encourage it, and what happens when it doesn’t form. Learn how to stage your programming, how to recognize processing challenges, and what to do at what stage of development to encourage children’s reasoning abilities.
Engineering our classrooms to meet the needs of children with challenges in Executive function, ADD, ADHD, and spectrum disorders. Learn to create a classroom where you spend less time managing behavior and more time actively engaging students in meaningful learning. Use the five factors psychologists have identified that encourage children, even those with identified behavior issues, to engage and interact rather than misbehave. Leave with practical strategies you can apply in your classroom or school.
Make It, Shake It, Explore It, Store It. . . Teacher-Mades to Liven Your Classroom! - Learning centers need a perk up? Center budget tight? Try these DIY enrichments and ideas to give your classroom a facelift for the spring and summer.
