This workshop includes a refresher on the Early Learning Standards and building a quality curriculum with lesson plans that meet the individual needs of children.

Tract One: – New Resolutions for a New Year: This tract offers teachers a fresh look at the Georgia Rules and Regulations, with a focus on the core rules and an emphasis on their responsibility for supervision and upholdingminimum standards. This track is GREAT for teachers, brand new or experienced, who need to be updated and motivated!!

8:00 – 10:00 Overview of the Georgia Rules and Regulations and the Core Rules - Test your knowledge of the licensing codes and the core rule areas as you review recent changes and apply them to your center. Learn the legal responsibilities of staff in maintain the rules and regulations, and come away equipped to find resources designed to make implementing the regulations become routine in daily operations.

10:15 – 12:15 Team Talk – Communicating, Co-operating, and Working Together to Build Excellence. Having a strong team is essential to any quality program. Learn five ways to improve communication, cooperation, and teamwork. Eliminate the “negative” that kills staff cohesiveness, and keep the focus on building an emotionally healthy staff that pull together to build a strong program.

8:00 – 10:00 The Power of Connections – Teacher Interactions Make A BIG Difference! Part One – Research validates that reaching the little ones we work with through positive interactions that make verbal, emotional, and physical connections leads to children who have a cognitive edge, more trust, and a happier disposition. Make connection an intentional part of your routines with children as you examine how to create more opportunities to sync. From talk to touch to enjoying emotions together, children of all ages need to connect! This workshop will send you out with a list of ways to increase interactions and set the stage for healthy relationships that translate into more influence in all the domains of development.

10:15 – 12:15 The Power of Connections – Transforming Behaviors through Relationship   Part Two                   Transform behaviors as you build relationships that help children be open to your mentorship. Learn the differences between relationship mentoring based guidance and other strategies, including traditional behavior modification, redirection, modeling, and time away to reflect. Learn to pick the strategy that best relates to the misbehaviors you see, as you build relationships that help you know triggers and motives better! A must for both new and experienced teachers.

Tract Three – For Faith Based Providers!!

8:00 – 10:00 Developing Values – Guidance and Self-Esteem for the Faith-Based Teacher Part One -.   When your job is also your ministry, and your work is your life mission, the hours you spend with your little ones REALLY count!! This seminar explores how we build values through our interactions and the relationships we build with children. It explores our role in helping children internalize values that guide them towards self-discipline.

10:15 – 12:15 Developing Values – Guidance and Self-Esteem for the Faith-Based Teacher Part Two - Use your vision as a faith-based teacher to touch all the developmental domains and build lasting foundations for character development in the children you work with. Explore ways to integrate your faith into your daily routines.

Tract Four: Basics - Today’s movement towards higher quality and better outcomes for children start with a focus on the fundamentals of Health & Safety – 2012 Child Abuse Reporting Law Changes covered in this session!

8:00 – 10:00 Child Abuse: Recognition & Reporting – Learn the warning signs of child abuse and neglect; the legal reporting requirements for teachers, directors, and owners, and how to protect yourself from being accused of abuse.  

10:15 to 12:15 Safety and Injury Control- Keep the little ones in your care safe and reduce liabilities by discovering these "safety musts" for the classroom, the playground and field trips. Participants in this class will also leave with a better understanding of the DHR reporting requirements for accidents and injuries.  

1:00 – 3:00 Infectious Diseases:  Recognition & Prevention - Proper hand washing and diapering procedures are just a few of the sanitary practices addressed in this course to help early childhood professionals learn how to reduce the risk of spreading illnesses in child care.

 

Tract Five: Management Sessions:

8:00 – 10:00 “The times, they are a changin’ . . .In the words of Bob Dylan, we see trends today that keep us learning and growing, or left behind! Check out legal issues that have changed, business strategies with a new savvy, and marketing and communication trends for 2013. Kick of the new year with new options for managing your program, and staying current with today’s trends in child care.

Social media can be either a marketing dream, or a public relations nightmare for net-savvy centers. Discuss the power of online community, both positive and negative, for center administrators. Create policies that protect your center’s reputation, preserve personnel’s fifth amendment rights, and head off issues before they occur!
