Athens Beautification Day
Sunday, April 13, 2014 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM (PDT)
Athens Beautification Day is an event put on by Ohio University's Student Senate each year in the spring. The commission that plans Athens Beautification Day is collaborating with both the student body and the community to create one of their largest community service days. This year there will be over 50 projects worked on within Athens. If you have any specific questions please contact Rose Troyer at OhioUOCL@gmail.com
Athens Beautification Day this year is a partnership with the Keep Southeast Ohio Beautiful campaign.
This year is the 10th anniversary of Athens Beautification Day! Ohio University and the Athens Community are working together to make this year the biggest yet.
Registration will begin at noon on College Green and at 12:30PM speeches will begin. From 1:00PM - 4:00PM will be the projects. At 4:00PM there will be food and music provided.
Student Senate believes events should be enjoyable and sustainable. This year, ABD will be the largest zero waste event ever on campus. Instead of generating large amounts of garbage to be landfilled; the event will recycle materials to be made into new products and compost leftover food into new soil [aka 'Zero Wasted' resources]. Zero Waste stations set up around the event will include recycling, compost, and trash/landfill bins. Other Zero Waste efforts include digitizing each group's project assignment, utilizing social media for promotion, and arming trash collectors with knowledge and bags necessary to sort reyclable litter from trash. So get excited, grap your re-usabe water bottoe and be a part of history!!
