Facebook? Twitter? Pinterest? Instagram? With so many channels, it can be hard to know where to start, how to make time for it, or if you're doing it well. Social media has fundamentally shifted the way we communicate and connect with our supporters. Farra Trompeter, Vice President of Big Duck, will moderate a panel of nonprofiteers who manage communities and social media for their organizations. Together they will share how they use social media to engage their communities—and answer your burning questions. And did we mention there will be donuts and coffee?

Farra Trompeter, Vice President, Big Duck
Farra Trompeter is a vice president at Big Duck, a communications firm that works exclusively with nonprofit organizations. She has more than 15 years of experience in communications and fundraising for nonprofits. Farra’s expertise focuses on helping nonprofits use the internet (social media, websites, email, etc.) to increase visibility and connect with donors, activists, and other stakeholders. Farra is an active participant on the Communications Committee for the New York City Anti-Violence Project and helps organize 501TechNYC—a monthly meetup for local members and friends of the Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN). She is a part-time faculty member at Milano The New School for Management and Urban Policy, where she teaches a class about Online Engagement for Nonprofits. Farra also holds an M.S. degree in nonprofit management from The New School. Farra tweets about nonprofit fundraising and communications via @farra.

Allison Jones, Editor, Idealist
Allison Jones is a Brooklyn girl who is passionate about making a difference. Currently, she is an editor at Idealist.org, a nonprofit that connects people to the resources, community, and opportunities they need to create a better world. In her role as editor she helps the organization produce content that informs and inspires. She is
also a proud nonprofit geek and techie: in addition to her blog (allisonj.org), she is on the board of the New York City Chapter of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network where she manages the organization’s online outreach efforts. Connect with Allison on twitter @ajlovesya.

Will Nolan, Director of Communications & Administration, Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy
Over the course of his five years with PPMD, he has helped to launch and grow PPMD’s social networking campaign, including Facebook,TwitterYouTube channel, and a Duchenne muscular dystrophy specific community site.  To date, PPMD is able to connect people from around the world through its different outlets enabling families to share important care information, advocate for their child, and interact with others who are on a similar journey. He is also responsible for PPMD’s monthly eNewsletter and works closely with Big Duck on an annual holiday appeal, which has shown significant growth each year. Before joining PPMD, Will worked for Logo (part of MTV Networks) assisting the head of the network. He later went on to develop various LGBT media and to produce the nationally syndicated radio show Twist. He is a husband and father in New Jersey and performs a one person show around the country in his spare time!

Amy Sample-Ward, Acting Community Lead/Membership Director, NTEN
Amy Sample Ward is an author, facilitator, and trainer focused on leveraging social technologies for social change. In 2009, she co-authored Social by Social: A practical guide to using new technologies to deliver social impact, and has contributed to various other publications about social media. Her second book, Social Change Anytime Everywhere: How to implement online multichannel strategies to spark advocacy, raise money and engage your community co-authored with Allyson Kapin, will be available from Wiley in February 2013. She is a conversation-starter and thought-leader, writing about strategic uses of new technologies for communities and organizations on her blog (AmySampleWard.org) and the Stanford Social Innovation Review (SSIReview.com/Opinion).
