Welcome to registration for the 2014 ASID Chapter Leadership Conference!
The annual ASID Chapter Leadership Conference (CLC) will be held June 19–21, in Los Angeles. All FY 2015 chapter board leaders are invited and encouraged to attend! This includes the following eight incoming positions:
• Membership Director
• Communications Director
• Finance Director
• Professional Development Director
• At-Large Director
• Student Rep to the Board (SRB)
In a unique, time-honored tradition dedicated to the development of ASID leaders, CLC provides an opportunity for chapter board members to engage in role training, team building, ideation workshops with staff and national board leaders, and interaction with Chapter Support Team (CST) volunteers. In addition, chapter board members will be recognized for service within ASID.
Consistently ranked by members as one of the most memorable and positive ASID experiences, CLC offers participants a chance to experience alignment with ASID on a grand scale. As volunteer leaders of the leading national organization representing the interior design profession, CLC helps participants to gain a better understanding of the critical and valued role they play.
This year’s program agenda has been enhanced based on feedback from past attendees and will introduce more elements of role-specific sessions and interactive workshops that bring boards together — positioning chapter boards to lead their chapters to unprecedented success.
Details regarding the agenda are listed below.
Registration includes access to all CLC sessions, the CLC welcome reception on Thursday evening, and breakfast and lunch on both Friday and Saturday.* Also included with your registration is a free three-day pass to the Dwell on Design Exhibition (a $40 value), which includes access to the DOD welcome reception on Friday evening. If you wish to attend any educational sessions being offered at the exhibition, you can register separately on the Dwell on Design website. If you’re planning to attend CLC, please register no later than May 15.
*Based on the number of attendees sent, each chapter will be charged for the per person cost of meals provided throughout the conference. Charges will be assessed post-event and are estimated to be approximately $100 per person.
TRAVEL AND LODGING
ASID has set up a group flight account with United that will allow you to save up to 10 percent off standard published fares. Details on how to book through the group account will be emailed to you upon registration.
ASID has set up group room blocks at two downtown Los Angeles hotels:
1. LA Hotel Downtown (Hyatt Regency): Standard rooms are available for $189 (plus tax) per night. Click here to make your reservation online. Rooms need to be booked by May 28 in order to receive the group rate.
2. JW Marriott LA Live: Standard rooms are available for $229 (plus tax) per night. Click here to make your reservation online. Rooms need to be booked by May 28 in order to receive the group rate.
Both hotels are within a mile of the Los Angeles Convention Center, where all of Friday and Saturday's CLC programming will take place. Transportation to and from the convention center will be provided free of charge to CLC attendees.
This year’s ASID Celebration awards gala is going to be a true Hollywood red carpet event! The gala will take place at Paramount Pictures Studios and will feature private tours of the grounds, fabulous food, an open bar and incredible entertainment. This is the highlight of the year for ASID members and design-lovers alike! ASID is pleased to offer CLC attendees an exclusive discounted ticket price of $175 per ticket (regular priced tickets start at $300), along with free transportation to and from our preferred hotels (see above). Tickets are available upon registration for CLC.

Chapter Support Team (CST) Chats (Presidents)
Presidents are separated into groups and each group is introduced to their CST advisor, who will provide monthly and ad hoc counsel, encouragement and support throughout their term.
Legislative Position Training (Presidents-Elect)
Led by Don Davis, ASID vice president of Government and Public Affairs, this training session will provide information about the Society’s legislative position and agenda, how this agenda is effectively pushed in the political arena on a state level, and how chapters and headquarters staff can work together to ensure alignment and consistency in legislative practices and messaging.
3 p.m. – 4 p.m. Basic Training (All Positions Separated for this optional session)
Whether volunteer leaders are brand new to ASID leadership or they want a refresher course to enter a second term with sharpened skills, the Basic Training sessions will provide the fundamentals of the duties and responsibilities for each chapter leadership position and how to leverage the operational resources and tools available. Eight sessions will run concurrently in separate breakout rooms with content designed specifically for each leadership position. This is a “don’t miss” session for presidents and first-term leaders.
4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Opening Session and Keynote Address (All Positions Together)
This leading general session will bring all CLC attendees together for an official launch of the conference, with inspiring introductory remarks from national ASID leaders. Our exceptional keynote speaker’s remarks will directly address the challenges and opportunities ASID faces, as well as providing information about best practices chapters can put into action.

The day opens with welcome remarks from the conference emcee, ASID EVP/CEO Randy Fiser, who will provide context around the learning journey attendees will embark upon. Randy also will discuss how participants can get the most out of the experience and extend their learning by bringing the knowledge gained at CLC back to the chapters.
9:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. ASID Framing and Design Impact Panel (All Positions Together)
Randy Fiser will share data points and observations to frame the challenges and opportunities ASID faces today, emphasizing the importance of the customer experience at the chapter level and highlighting ways to attract influential markets to the Society.
11:15 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Break
11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. In-Depth Position Training (All Positions Separated)
Teams of staff, board and CST leaders provide attendees comprehensive insights on best practices associated with their roles, how to build and manage committees effectively and how to establish optimal working relationships with other chapter board leaders. This session also offers a forum for leaders to swap successful ideas.

• Strategic Planning Workshop (Presidents, Presidents-Elect and Finance Directors)
With strategic plans in hand, chapter leaders receive guidance from ASID leadership facilitators on how to refine strategic plans (as well as work plans and budgets) to align with Society-level goals and to maximize return on investment.
• Drivers of Success Workshop (Membership Director, Communications Director, Professional Development Director, At-Large Director and SRB)
ASID staff present the “Chapter Success Toolkit” and attendees work to further explore ideas to help chapters improve recruitment, retention, perception, revenue and engagement.

10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Reunited Alliance Workshop (All Positions Together)
Full chapter boards have an opportunity to report out on accomplishments in workshops, discuss potential additions to chapter work plans and address expectations for the upcoming year.
11:30a.m. – Noon Break
Noon – 1:15 p.m. Awards Luncheon (All Positions Together)
This awards luncheon will recognize achievements of chapter members, chapter and student chapter boards, student leaders and scholarship recipients.
1:15 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Break
1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Team Building Workshop and CLC Closing (All Positions Together)
Full chapter boards sit together for an interactive session on working effectively as a team and setting the rules of engagement for each chapter. The emcee closes the event with a motivational message and a pledge from ASID to chapter leaders.
2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. State of the Society (Open to All ASID Members)
The State of the Society annual ASID meeting will address the evolving position of the Society in the marketplace and the direction ASID will take to continue to embody a forward-facing profile as the leading organization for all practice areas of the profession.
6:30 p.m. – 11 p.m. Celebration 2014: The ASID Awards Gala (Open to the Industry)
Cancellation Policy: Cancellation and refund requests for Celebration must be made in writing by June 11, 2014. A refund of the ticket cost, minus a $50 administrative fee, will be given for cancellations received by that date. No refunds will be granted for requests after June 11, 2014. Submit all requests to ASID Registration via email at firstname.lastname@example.org. ASID regrets that refunds will not be given for no-shows. Substitutions are gladly accepted! Badge sharing, splitting, and reprints are strictly prohibited.
Special Offers/Discount Codes: Use of discount codes is valid only at the time of the initial purchase/registration. Refunds will not be authorized for existing registrations where the special offer was received after the initial purchase. Substitution Policy: A transfer of your full registration is permitted prior to the conference by submitting written request to email@example.com. Onsite transfers must be accompanied with proof of the original confirmation letter. Only one transfer is permitted per original registrant. The individual submitting the transfer request is responsible for all financial obligations (any balance due) associated with that substitution. Badge sharing, splitting and reprints are strictly prohibited.
