Event Details

What is Asheville Startup Weekend?

A 54-hour event designed to teach the skills of entrepreneurship by having participants work on a team to convert an idea into an operating business.

During the weekend, participants create working startups and are able to collaborate with like-minded individuals outside of their daily networks. All teams hear talks by industry leaders and receive valuable feedback from local entrepreneurs. The weekend is centered around action, innovation & education.

Whether you are looking for feedback on a idea, a co-founder, specific skill sets, or a team to help you execute, Asheville Startup Weekends is the perfect environment to test your idea and take the first steps towards launching your own startup or learning skills to help your current company.

Who should attend?

Anyone who wants to learn or loves the process of creating a new product or service and turning it into a business. Attendees include makers, programmers, marketers, designers, builders, entrepreneurs and writers. Students get a special discount to participate.

Why should I attend?

To become inspired, forge lasting friendships, find co-founders & employees, learn new tools & methodologies, practice new skills and feel a sense of accomplishment.

Participating in Startup Weekend is an intense experience that allows you to grow rapidly and build deep relationships. It’s an experience like none other.

What can I expect?

Attendees meet Friday at 6:30p and start getting to know each other. After a dinner and inspiring presentations, you’ll go through six steps to build a new business by Sunday at 5pm:

  1. Propose Your Idea
  2. Build Your Team
  3. Create Your Business Model
  4. Connect with Customers
  5. Build Your Product
  6. Present Your Startup

Steps 3-5 usually happen at the same time by different members of your team. You’ll also be supported by a cadre of coaches who will give you feedback on your progress and answer your questions.

How do I sign up?

Select a ticket from one of the categories above. If you fit multiple categories, pick your strongest for now. You will not be restricted to this role during the weekend. If you don’t know which to pick, select Non-Technical for now.

Where can I find out more?

If you have other questions, visit the Asheville Startup Weekend web site or check out the Starutp Weekend FAQ.

What is the refund policy?

No refunds will be granted within 7 days of the event if food and drink have already been ordered. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
