Arts & Crabs Fest
Saturday, August 17, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM (CDT)
Lake Charles, LA
The Arts Council, the Lake Charles/SWLA Convention & Visitors Bureau, Southwest Beverage, and KVHP/FOX29/the CW are proud to announce that the 4th annual Arts & Crabs Fest will take place on Saturday, August 17, 2013, 5pm-8pm, at the Lake Charles Civic Center. A limited number of $25 wristbands will be sold, and this event is for guests 21 years of age and above.
This year, Arts & Crabs Fest – SWLA’s only crab and art festival – will deliver a new and improved experience of SWLA’s culture, food, music, and art. Each year Arts & Crabs Fest celebrates the ties between Louisiana seafood and culture. Festivalgoers can sample an extensive crab and beer tasting which features fifteen local restaurants that each offers a unique crab dish representative of their cuisine’s styles. Dishes typically include crab cakes, crab au gratin, crab ceviche, and crab gazpacho, and similar to a wine pairing, Louisiana craft brews will act as complementary pairings to each dish.
Live music, local art displays, and interactive cultural activities will also accompany the event. Rusty Metoyer & The Zydeco Krush, one of the youngest and most entertaining zydeco groups in SWLA, will keep festivalgoers dancing all afternoon. As a “Top 20 Event in the Southeast” by the Southeast Tourism Society, Arts & Crabs Fest is quickly becoming a signature event for Southwest Louisiana and is consistently a sell-out.
Arts & Crabs Fest is sponsored by the Arts Council, Lake Charles/SWLA Convention & Visitors Bureau, KVHP/FOX29/the CW, Southwest Beverage Co., Acadiana Profile Magazine, Deep South Productions, Tobacco Free Living, Union Pacific, Knight Media, Digikast, Shearman Media, IBERIABANK, Coca Cola, Louisiana Lottery, and Office of Cultural Development. Funds raised at Arts & Crabs Fest are reinvested back into SWLA’s arts communities through the Arts Council’s services and programs. Event sponsorship packages are also available for SWLA businesses.
