Internationally recognized for his technical mastery and inventive forms, Kurt Weiser’s signature China-painted porcelain vessels use the format of commemorative vessels to explore subjects that combine surrealism and illustrations based in natural history. Working from the 21st century in the style of contemporary artists such as Walton Ford, his work references the style and content of illustrators who documented exploration - John James Audubon, George Catlan, Mark Catesby and William Bartram. Weiser will discuss his pioneering work and solo exhibition on view at Cross Mackenzie Gallery in Washington, DC.
