Arthur M. Katz is president of Knockout Pest Control in Uniondale, which he founded in 1975, serving the New York metropolitan area.  His company, Knockout has been setting the pace for pest control companies serving the Hispanic community by employing Latinos at the management and technician levels, and being the first to translate its website into Spanish.

Arthur is past president of the New York State Pest Management Association and is a past board member of the National Pest Management Association.  Most recently, Knockout donated over $20,000 worth of termite prevention and protection to Nassau County’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums for use at Old Bethpage Village Restoration.

Katz was appointed by District Attorney Kathleen Rice to the Nassau County Task Force on Bed Bugs in the spring of 2011.  He is also the past chair person of the Long Island Cabinet of UJA-Federation of New York and a former member of the New York Board of Directors from 1990-1993.  He was formerly a co-chair of the Long Island Program Services Cabinet.

In August 2001 Katz was appointed Vice-Chairman Long Island Division for the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA) where he was instrumental in having The Hispanic Network President Maria Morales-Prieto go to Israel as part of a delegation of Hispanic leaders from around the country to meet with President Shimon Peres in an effort to unify America’s Latino and Jewish community.

Katz is a founding member and a current Board member of LIREG (The Long Island Real Estate Group). LIREG was formed in 2004 to encourage networking between Long Island Real Estate Developers, owners and the allied trades, and to raise funds for charitable real estate projects on Long Island.

In June 2012 Katz was appointed the Long Island Chairman of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC LI).  The JCRC mission is to inform and mobilize the Long Island community to take action locally, nationally, and internationally to address community relations issues important to the Jewish and non-Jewish communities.

RotaCare: Free Health Care for People in Need

Founded in 1992 by members of the Mineola‐Garden City Rotary Club, RotaCare was created to serve the needs of the uninsured on Long Island. It began when a group of concerned volunteers met at the Mary Brennan Interfaith Nutrition Network in Hempstead. Many of these volunteers recognized that in addition to food, the medical needs of their clients were not met adequately by the healthcare system. Through the collaborative efforts of the Rotary Club, local healthcare professionals, area residents, and Mercy Hospital, a “MASH” team was formed to operate weekly at the soup kitchen. RotaCare was born. Since its inception, RotaCare has remained a Rotary District project and supported by concerned companies, organizations and individuals to sustain its good works and benefits to the community by providing free health care to people in need. In 2007, RotaCare expanded its scope again, and moved to larger quarters at the A. Holly Patterson Extended Family Care Facility in Uniondale.
