Families will explore portraits from the museum's premanent collection and special exhibitions in unique ways. Exciting and educational games in the galleries will help parents and children discover connections between the artworks. Parents and children will use their imagination to "step into" a work of art with creative, hands-on activities in the galleries.
Artful Adventures for Families is a collaborative project with George Mason University's Master of Arts (MAT) in Art Education Program. The museum tour and gallery activities will be designed and led by Mason Students in conjunction with the National Portrait Gallery, Smithsonian Institution's Education Office.
Artful Adventures tours are designed for children ages 6 - 12; children must be accompanied by adults. Admission is free. Pre-registration is required. Please list the number of adults and number of children attending.
Tours will meet in the G Street lobby of the museum.
