 AFTER HOURS @ GENSLER

Please join us for this unique event at Gensler’s newly redeveloped Washington, DC office space as we highlight the art of architecture through a wide variety of artistic genres and techniques. Featuring artwork by KATYA KRUPKO, music with live violin performance by MANIFESTO, and cocktails by FOU-DRÉ Vodka the evening will provoke thought and conversation, while exploring the art of architecture from a different perspective.

WHAT TO SEE & EXPLORE:

THE SPACE - GENSLER is a leading global architecture, design, planning, and strategic consulting firm that partners with companies to achieve measurable business and organizational goals through design. For more than 45 years, Gensler has been a pioneer in creating great places that enhance the quality of work and life. The new space embodies the design principles that the firm strives to achieve through their project work and reiterates their commitment to the nation’s capital and their K street home. Ceilings on the ground level contain straight, linear panels that are occasionally intersected by diagonal ones, a pattern meant to echo the way avenues slice through the city blocks of the District. Art work throughout the space also has a Washington theme. The entryway features a large wooden sculpture that is a topographic map of the area, while a black and white graffiti mural on the second floor showcases the neighborhood surrounding their downtown office. http://www.gensler.com/

THE ART - KATYA KRUPKO - Inspired by her two most favorite places in the world – hometown of Kaliningrad and New York City, Katya Krupko is to reveal her first “environmental pop art” collection in this solo exhibit.

“The pieces within this new collection will showcase a perfect balance of landscape and architecture, the merging of which gave birth to my unique style of “environmental pop art”.  It is something that came about from my deep admiration for city sceneries, from architecture of the buildings to the greenery of park landscapes“– says Krupko.

Born in a historic city of Kaliningrad on the shores of the Baltic Sea, Krupko progressed from viewing gorgeous landscapes to making sketches in the open air like the impressionists and post-impressionists who she so dearly admires. Over the years she developed deep appreciation for architecture. The unusual combination of architectural German heritage and Russian culture of her native city influenced her outlook on the world and, later on, her art. To pursue her developed passion she enrolled into Moscow State University of Technology and Management, where she studied architectural design. Her passion for everything that is art has recently brought her to the United States, where she is currently pursuing a degree in graphic design in Washington, DC. www.katyakrupko.com

THE MUSIC - MANIFESTO - is well known for his ability to combine his European influences and American tastes with his unique violin craft. He crafts a style all his own. By both DJ’ing and playing the violin with his sets, MANIFESTO can move a floor and impress even the most refined musical tastes with his talent. He was trained at The Juilliard School and spins at some of the world’s most popular venues from Ireland to the Czech Republic. In the United States, he makes appearances at only the best venues, such as NYC’s Elevation and Miami’s Nikki Beach and Club Space. In 2006, he released his first single, “Shaken, Not Sirred”, which is still rocking radio airwaves. Since then, he has worked with top artists – such as Nick Terrenova (from Starkillers), Paul Mendez (the No.3 house DJ in America), DJ FEEL (Russia’s No. 1 DJ), Johnathan Peters, Heavygrinder, Infected Mushrooms, and Victor Calderone www.djmanifesto.com

THE VIDEO PROJECTION - MASRAE - Visual artist who fuses live, original and found footage with music to create a world of euphoric synesthesia. For this event he will take the architectural theme to the next level by bringing it to live with his unique audio/visual work. Combining video,  images, art and photography this visual artist creates an experience like no other. Customizing each of his projection work to the space and theme of the event. Masrae@gmail.com.
