Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Artist Art world – do these sound familiar? Are you on Facebook? Is it a personal profile or a fan page? Do you promote your art, your exhibits, and your artistic achievements via social media platforms? Do you want to but are concerned about protecting your work online and not losing its value?
This session focuses on a number of legal rights artists have in their work including copyrights and the Visual Artists Rights Act. Attorney Deborah Gonalez will speak about the legal and business considerations of putting your art online using the newest social media platforms including an overview of the most popular social media sites for artists and then review some legal cases and laws to explore key points you can apply strategically. Creative commons license, crowd sourcing and crowd funding opportunities for artists will be discussed.
