Yuliya Lanina is a Russian-born American multimedia artist who splits her time between New York City and Austin. She creates alternate realities in her works — ones based on fantasy, femininity, and humor.
Laninaʼs interbred creatures play the roles of witnesses and mentors to merge fantasy, dreams, theater and reality in order to illustrate human experience, which is neither linear nor straightforward.
Yuliya Lanina has been participated in many solo and group exhibitions in the United States and all over the world. The most recent include: solo exhibits in London (2011), and in Perth, Australia (2010); group exhibitions in Moscow, Russia (2012), New York (2012, 2011, and 2010) and Cambridge, Massachusetts (2010). Yuliya is also involved in lectures and speaking engagements at University of Texas and School of Film (Austin), Pratt Institute, Hunter College, and Scholastic Educational Center (New York). She has won Award of Excellence at the Manhattan Arts International Competition.
The exhibition is on view June 1 – August 22, 2013.
All works are available for sale.
