Microgrids in Connecticut
Moderator: Gil Kernan, CleanTech PMG, LLC
Please join us on Saturday, September 15th at 11:00am for a timely panel discussion on Microgrids, "Are Microgrids the Answer?" at Live Green Connecticut!! located at Taylor Farm Park in Norwalk. After last year's storms left so many in Connecticut without power for extended periods, the Connecticut General Assembly passed legislation creating a $20 million grant and loan program to support local distributed energy generation for critical facilities. Saturday's lively panel discussion will center on increased power reliability and security; lowering costs of electricity; new technologies that can transform how power is created and delivered; the role of new market participants, and the existing utilities; and legislation required to open the market to competition and innovation, while maintaining safeguards for the consumer.
The panel will be moderated by Gil Kernan, Founder of CleanTech PMG LLC of Westport, CT a firm focused on opportunities in energy efficiency and clean energy. The panelists are Joel Rinebold, Director of Energy Initiatives at the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology, Inc.; Guy Warner, Chairman and CEO of Pareto Energy; Chris Swan, Director of Municipal Relations and Siting at Northeast Utilities; and Connecticut State Senator Bob Duff who is the vice chair of the Transportation and Energy & Technology Committee.
