April Luncheon - “How Would You Use a Team of UC Davis MBAs?”
Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM (PDT)
“How would you use a team of six MBAs at your company working quarter time for ten weeks?” That’s a question that Jim Kelly, Director of IMPACT Projects at the UC Davis Graduate School of Management, asks business executives every day. Jim is responsible for identifying great management consulting engagements at great companies for MBA students at the GSM. Beginning with the class that entered in 2011, second year MBA students have been required to conduct Integrated Management Project engagements as a capstone requirement to receive their degree. In these past two years, students have: ·Developed a framework to establish sustainability initiatives at Mars. ·Evaluated use cases for hybrid cloud/on premises data storage solutions and proposed a pricing model to NetApp. · Evaluated and tested go-to-market strategies and product features to accelerate growth of a personal nutrition app for HarvestMark, a food traceability company. Supported by an experienced faculty advisor, students conducted these and other management consulting engagements and grappled with applying their MBA knowledge and skills to a real-time business challenge. Jim Kelly, the Director of IMPACT Projects, will describe the project-based learning program further and present opportunities for you and/or your company to be engaged with the program.
