Wycliffe Gordon is a musical ambassador, and expert interpreter of America’s music; accordingly, he has received great acclaim from audiences and critics alike. His unmatched modern mastery of the plunger mute, and his signature sound, has solidified his place in musical history as one of the top trombonists of his generation. His recordings are a model of consistency and inspiration, and his musical expertise has been captured on numerous recordings, including 15 solo CDs, and 7 co-leader CDs;
Wycliffe was named “Best in Trombone” by the Downbeat Critics Poll for 2012; and, the Jazz Journalists Association named him “Trombonist of the Year” again in 2012. He is also a gifted composer and arranger (his arrangement of NPR’s theme song, “All Things Considered” is heard daily across the globe).
Recent Update** - There will now be a Quintet! -- The Wycliffe Gordon Quintet consists of Aaron Diehl (Piano), Tim Brumfield (Organ), Ulysses Owens (Drums) and Yasushi Nakamura (Bass).
