The Lean Startup Process for Mobile Apps - Bob Familiar (Microsoft) will detail a lean startup approach to designing, coding and launching apps and games in the Windows 8 store as well as how to target multiple mobile platforms for the widest distribution. Bob Familiar is the Director of Technical Evangelism for Microsoft covering the Northeast including Boston and New York. He and his team work with developers and startups to design and build apps and games using both native technologies as well as cross platform tools and frameworks. (B). Mobile healthcare startup - Applivate - John Fitzpatrick is co-founder and CEO of Applivate, a one-year-old startup based in New Haven. Applivate empowers people to capture, store, curate, and share data about their health using mobile technology. Their first product is ShugaTrak, a smartphone app for people with diabetes. ShugaTrak captures readings from glucose meters instantly and effortlessly and sends them to loved ones and health care professionals in text messages and emails. John's training is in neuroscience research, and he spent over a decade investigating how single brain cells process information. A former Lecturer at Yale, he has a M.S. in biomedical engineering and a Ph.D. in biology.
