APA SF & AAU Present: EMILY SHUR, Celebrity / Fine Art Photographer
Emily Shur will discuss her diverse, highly successful career as a well-known Fine Art, Celebrity, Editorial, Music and Advertising Photographer.
Emily recently said:
When your passion for making images becomes your career, it changes how you think about photography. In some ways, that change is positive, and in other ways, it's challenging. What you learn along the way is how to manage the career challenges, and at the same time, continue to make real progress with your art.
Emily has won numerous Awards, including The Art Director’s Club Young Guns 4, Photography Book Now, and has been a featured photographer in Photo District News, American Photography, and Communication Arts. Her Fine Art images have been selected for more than a dozen group shows, and one of her celebrity portraits was exhibited in the prestigious Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize Exhibition, National Portrait Gallery, London.
Emily has shot regular assignments and many covers for nearly 100 magazines such as Details, Elle, Esquire, Forbes, GQ, Interview, ESPN the Magazine, Outside, Parade, People, Texas Monthly, The Times Magazine, Travel + Leisure, TV Guide, Vibe, The New York Times Magazine, Wired, Entertainment Weekly, and Rolling Stone. She shot a Newsweek cover of Sarah Palin and recently photographed Goldie Hawn for The Times Magazine cover.
Her many Music clients include Atlantic Records, Motown Records, Sony Records, Universal Records, and Warner Brothers Records. And her top advertising clients include American Express, Cisco Systems, Dell, HTC, Head & Shoulders, MTV, Sara Lee, and Yahoo!
Don’t miss this very rare opportunity to hear how Emily has created a unique career that successfully combines both art and commerce, and hear how she has created an original, much-sought-after photographic style. (And there will also be some behind the scenes celebrity photo session stories.)
