Bummer! Sales have ended.
Unfortunately, tickets for this event are no longer on sale.
Gather with fellow writers and illustrators to get feedback on your work, meet others looking to form critique groups, and share a picnic lunch while you network.
We'll also give away three great books to Critiquenickers:
- The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate (our June 2013 meeting topic!)
- Second Sight: An Editor's Talks on Writing, Revising, and Publishing Books for Children and Young Adults by Cheryl Klein
- 2012 Children's Writer's & Illustrator's Market edited by Chuck Sambuchino
What to Bring:
Writers - up to 5 double-spaced, typed manuscript pages (or your entire picture book manuscript). Bring 5 copies.
Illustrators - book dummy or portfolio
Everyone - your own sandwich and non-alcoholic (park rule) drink, and a side dish or dessert to share. We’ll use the picnic tables and benches, but you’re welcome to bring a lawn chair if you prefer.
Note: We love children, but this event is for the adults who write and illustrate for them! Eisenhower has playground facilities, but they are not located next to our pavilion (see below).
RSVP: PLEASE RSVP by choosing "Free Admission" above, so we have a good count for food.
Parking: FREE; first come, first served.
Facility: We've rented Pavilion #1 in Eisenhower Park from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (Critiquenic starts at 10:00 am). This pavilion is located in the uppermost parking lot at Eisenhower Park. For a preview of Pavilion #1, visit this page and scroll down. Look for RA Shannon's white & red Chevy truck with eye-catching balloons! There are restrooms near the pavilion. The city does not guarantee electricity. Come early or stay late to enjoy Eisenhower's hiking trails!
