Niki Dawson has worked in animal welfare for almost 25 years as
Executive Director of New Jersey's Liberty Humane Society, Camden
County Animal Shelter and most recently served as the National
Director of Disaster Services for the Humane Society of the United
States. Ms. Dawson has been a first responder for Hurricanes Katrina,
Rita, Ike, Isaac, and Sandy, Cedar Rapids flooding and the Joplin
tornado. She has been the Director of the Hudson County, NJ Animal
Response Team for ten years and is a certified NJ Animal Control
Officer and Animal Cruelty Investigator. Ms. Dawson also serves on
the NJ State Steering Committee for CART development.

Pet Safe Coalition, Inc.
The Pet Safe Coalition was originally created in 1998 as a working
idea to assist the overlooked pet populations of disasters. It wasn't
until 2005 that the Coalition was officially founded, and at the time,
recognized as the very first County Animal Response Team (CART) in
New York State. To this day, it remains the only organization in
Nassau County, New York, that specifically deals with emergency
management and disaster mitigation for animals.
