The UNC Law Student Animal Legal Defense Fund (SALDF) is hosting its first annual Animal Law Symposium on Saturday, March 17th, from 8:30 AM to approximately 4 PM.  

The event is FREE.  Continental breakfast and lunch will be served.

Molly Mullin is a visiting anthropology professor at Duke University, and will speak on challenging the conventional dichotomies between humans and animals, nature and culture, domesticated and wild.

Geoff Fleck is an attorney with the Animal Legal Defense Fund’s (ALDF) Criminal Justice Program, and will speak on the link between animal abuse and human violence, including domestic violence.

UNC Student Animal Legal Defense Fund

The UNC Law Student Animal Legal Defense Fund (SALDF) is a student organization designed to provide students, faculty, and staff with the opportunity to learn about the growing field of animal law and to advocate for animal interests in a legal setting. We seek to promote awareness—among both members and nonmembers—of current legal issues involving animals and to engage in these issues through various events.
