  • With no previous training Andrea Saenz is a self taught artist residing in Queens, New York. Andrea’s early work was a variety of charcoal illustrations but it was not until a year ago when she first picked up a paint brush. Soon after, her painting Angustia was displayed in Midoma’s “Love Out loud” group exhibition.

Andrea’s current work is influenced by Ecuadorian painters Guayasamin and Eduardo Kingman and English artist Francis Bacon. She strives to reflect in her work the pain, misery and hope found within herself, as well as that of all humanity.

The human hand, being the object of inspiration, she imbeds emotional experiences within the forms they take. She states “It’s fascinating how we hold our suffering with the same hands we use to pray for hope.” Andrea’s work aims to cause emotional reflection within the viewer in order to trigger a human response to the injustices found in the world.
